Pear - Invincible / Fertilia

Very hardy modern French pear, sweet and deliciously juicy, which as the name suggests will crop successfully throughout Britain. Can produce a second flush of blossom if the first is lost to late frost. Heavy cropping, the emerald-green fruits need a few weeks storage after picking to finish ripening. Cooks well. Self-fertile.

Season: October - November

Rootstock: Quince A (semi-dwarf)

Planting Distance: 4m (13ft)

Approximate Height: 3m (10ft) after 10 years

Instances of poor pollination are nearly always caused by bad weather at blossom time, limiting the activity of insects.

This pear tree is growing on a semi-dwarf rootstock, ideal for the average garden.

Pears need a sunny site and a neutral soil to crop well, a pH of 6.5 - 7.5 is ideal.
