Fig - Rouge de Bordeaux

Famous old French hardy variety that will crop reliably in the UK given a sunny sheltered spot, ideally against a south or west facing wall. Wonderful Mediterranean fruit, a rich natural source of Vitamin C, drought tolerant once established and an excellent shade plant. Will grow well in a pot, or in a pot sunk into the ground to within 2.5cm (1in) of its top. Skin irritant with sunlight.

Season: August - October

Planting Distance: 3m (10ft)

Approximate Height: 3m (10ft) after 10 years

Figs need a fertile neutral soil to crop well (a pH of 6.0-7.5 is ideal) in full sun.
