Closely related to our native hazel but with much larger leaves and nuts, filberts are delicious either fresh or roasted. Originally from southern Europe it has been grown in Britain for thousands of years. Forms a small multi-stemmed tree draped with attractive yellow catkins in late winter.

Season: September - October
Harvest when the husks begin to yellow in autumn. Once dried the nuts will keep for months.
