Blackcurrant - Ben Alder

Very heavy cropping modern Scottish variety, late fruiting and with excellent disease resistance. Rich tart flavour, delicious as purée with yoghurt or ice cream, or use in pies, jams or juices, freezes well. A rich source of vitamin C. Late-blooming to avoid late spring frosts.

Approximate Height: 1.2m (4ft) after 5 years

Currants need a fertile neutral soil to crop well (a pH of 6.0-7.5 is ideal) in full sun.
