Blackberry - Loch Marie

New Scottish variety with delightful double pink flowers. Very compact upright habit and no thorns make for easy picking and training. Heavy cropping, very large sweet-tasting berries, full of juice. Makes marvellous bramble jelly, delicious in pies when mixed with other fruit such as apples. Freezes well.

Season: Mid August - October

Planting Distance: 4m (13ft)

Approximate Height: 2m (6ft) after 5 years

Blackberries need a fertile neutral soil to crop well (a pH of 6.0-7.5 is ideal) with good drainage in full sun.

Two pairs of horizontal wires, 60cm (2ft) and 1.2m (4ft) above ground, will be required to support the fruit-bearing canes in future years.
